Summer Time Harvest! Yummy!!

Summer Time Harvest! Yummy!!

What to Expect? What do we grow? How do we grow?

We raise seasonal organic produce of all types we have a diverse fruit orchard, 8 greenhouses, 2.5 acre market garden, pastured poultry and hog production. We support other local growers who have unique products we don’t raise or in the event of a crop loss due to harsh weather or un-foreseen human error we will source products as needed.

Here are the details: We raise Cherries, Peaches, Plums, Nectarines, Apples, Pears, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Radish, Carrots, Garlic, Onions, Beets, Cucumbers, Summer Squash, Winter Squash, Sweet Corn, Swiss Chard, Kale, Cabbage, Broccoli, Herbs, free range pastured egg layer hens, pastured poultry meat birds pasture raised hogs and honey bees. This is very rewarding work for us. Members support help support labor costs, seed costs, greenhouse costs and general operation of this farm.

Seasonally we source hard to find seasonal specialty pantry staples available at our farm stand. We grow many different gourmet crops and spring, summer, fall and winter are all wonderful. Paired with our pantry items and naturally raised proteins you will be so satisfied every week. Our weekly harvests are very special and our offering is like no other.

We are Certified Organic and our farm practice is beyond organic. We practice a style of agriculture that has been long forgotten. We use the French Intensive Biodynamic farm practices. 90% of all our inputs and amendments are created on farm and we implement the biodynamic systems in all aspects of our farm from seeding to harvest. We pay close attention to the biodynamic calendar and apply all the biodynamic preparations annually.

Field To Fork strives to be a closed loop farming system creating our own fertility. Our garden beds are permanent no/low till beds 100’ long by 30” wide we use intensive plant spacing and companion planting through out our farm.

We are dedicated to growing the best produce for our community as well as nurturing nature and caring for our pollinators, birds, insects, reptiles and amphibians. 20% of our farm land is dedicated to undisturbed wildlife habitat and cover crops. Perennial flowering hedgerows, fruit trees and diverse flowering cover crops. The annual vegetables are raised in a No-Till market garden and greenhouse/hoop house protection. We raise all crops in the preferred time for optimal nutrition and flavor.

Our systems are tried and true. We use old world techniques with modern small scale farming technology this allows us to grow a large variety of crops earlier and later then any other farm in Mesa County. We mange over 20,000 square feet of greenhouses and a 200+ permanent no/low till garden bed system. We have a small fruit orchard of Cherries, Peaches, Plums, Nectarines, Apples and Pears. When we have a good fruit year we all enjoy the diverse bounty. We raise egg layer hens annually, hogs, Bees & Broiler Meat Chickens.

We harvest and grow nutrient dense produce during all four seasons. Our focus is simple and based on healthy soil. We spend most of our time balancing and adding proper nutrition to our soil before we plant our crops if the soil is balanced and healthy it will simply grow healthy plants. We never use any synthetic petrol based fertilizers, herbicides or fungicides every plant control system at Field To Fork are plant, animal or mineral based controls derived from nature.

We have seasonal shifts between Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer sometimes we need to close to plant and prepare for the seasons ahead. We close for all major holidays. These announcements are made through emails as well as on our social media pages.

Many seasons have unplanned surprises and we do have issues with weather most recently smoke pollution from wildfires. We can not hurt the health of our staff or our selves by working in unhealthy conditions caused by natural causes out of our control. We do sometimes close due to severe climate conditions.
